Copper Mine Overview

Native copper and the copper sulphides are usually found in veins associated with igneous intrusions. Chrysocolla and the carbonates are products of the weathering of copper-bearing rocks. Copper was one of the first metals to be worked, because it occurred in native form and needed little refining. Today the main producers are the USA, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Zambia, Chile, Peru, Canada, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire).

Conveyors and trucks deposit coarse ore on a heap leach pad, which has a series of pipes and hoses dispensing a diluted sulfuric acid solution to the ore. Copper is dissolved and flows to a pond at the bottom of the pad. This process can take several months. The leached solution is pumped to the SX (Solvent Extraction) circuit, which looks like a series of agitation tanks or cells. The fine sulfide ore is sent to froth flotation cells like those below for recovery.

The first stage of copper ore process within a metallurgical treatment circuit is copper ore crushing, where the copper ore particles are reduced in size such that copper particles can be efficiently separated from copper ore particles.Copper is mined either at open pit copper ore mines or underground copper ore mines.First the copper ore is blasted, loaded and transported to the primary crushers(copper ore crusher). Then the ore is crushed and screened, with the fine sulfide ore (~-0.5 mm) going to froth flotation cells for recovery of copper.

In the primary crusher, the ore is broken into smaller pieces of less than 25 centimetres in diameter . Copper Ore Flotation Procedure is necessary for Copper Ore. Crushed ore is then loaded on to a conveyor belt which takes it to the storage bin. In the storage bin, ball mills and other grinding machine grind the ore until it is a fine powder.During the crushing process,we have improved the capacity and end crushing products with our secondary crusher and tertiary crusher. The total energy consumption is reduced considerably.
